Interdisciplinary artist Juan Ledesma was born in 1988 in Auckland, New Zealand, to Peruvian parents. A twice-over immigrant, Ledesma grew up in Lima, Peru, then moved to Florida when he was fifteen years old. A musician since an early age, Ledesma received his BFA in studio art from Florida Atlantic University in 2012. His art practice includes sculpture, drawing, sound installation, and other projects that explore the cultural histories and functions of objects and instruments.

Ledesma’s work was the subject of a solo exhibition, Rhythm of Speech, at Locust Projects, Miami, Florida (2021). Group exhibitions include El Espacio Entre Los Otros at Radio 28, Mexico City, (2023), Instrument at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts (2018), and others. His awards include a commission from Miami-Dade Art in Public Places (2023-2026), a residency with Anderson Ranch Art Center in Snowmass, Colorado (2023), and an Ellies Creator Award from Oolite Arts (2019). Ledesma is based in Miami, Florida.
